Fines
The Virgin Islands code outlines the penalties for traffic violations. Two dollars of every fine imposed is deposited into the Peace Officer Training Fund. Any person who violates provisions of the Virgin Islands traffic laws or any rule or regulation of the Taxi Cab Commission is subject to an administrative fine which shall not exceed $50 for the first violation, $100 for the second violation, $500 for the third violation, and $1,000 for any subsequent violation within five years of the last violation. The Taxi Cab Commission may revoke any operator's badge and automobile plates only after a fine has been imposed for more than three violations. No fine or penalty shall be imposed without previous notice and an opportunity for a fair hearing. Taxi inspectors may issue traffic citations for the unauthorized operation of a taxi.
