WHAT IS A TAXI LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER?

A Taxi Law Enforcement Officer is a peace officer, entrusted to uphold and enforce all laws applicable to the United States Virgin Islands and the United States of America.

  • An applicant is required to have at least a high school diploma or its equivalent
  • They must also  successfully clear a  complete back ground check
  • Must also successfully complete the full Virgin Islands Police Training Academy

PRIMARY FUNCTION

A Taxi Law Enforcement officer is to enforce all laws under title 20 chapter 37 of the Virgin Islands Code, governing the automobile for hire industry to include the following:

  • Taxi/Dollar Bus
  • Tours-Land

A Taxi Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing all laws under title 20 chapter 37 of the Virgin Islands Code, governing the automobile for hire industry, as well as enforcing the rules and regulations of the Taxicab Commission territory wide St. Croix, St. Thomas, and St. John and enforce all laws applicable to the United States Virgin Islands and the United States of America. .
